Foundation and History

Das Pallotti Institut für Geschichte und Gegenwart von Spiritualität wurde im April 2010 als Einrichtung der Deutsch-Österreichischen Herz-Jesu-Provinz der Pallottiner gegründet.
Es steht im Dienst der deutschsprachigen Länder der Provinz – Deutschland und Österreich – sowie der englischsprachigen Regionen. Darüber hinaus kooperiert es mit der Schweizer Provinz. 

Als Instrument der Gesellschaft des Katholischen Apostolates (SAC) dient das Institut der gesamten Unio in den genannten Ländern. Im Gründungsjahr 2010 wurde das Pallotti-Institut Pater Ulrich Scherer SAC anvertraut, der es bis zu seinem Tod im Jahr 2022 leitete.

Seine Nachfolgerin ist Dr. theol. Brigitte Proksch UAC, die sich intensiv mit der Spiritualität und Anthropologie Vinzenz Pallottis auseinandergesetzt hat. Im August 2023 wurde das Pallotti Institut als offizielles Institut der Vinzenz Pallotti University anerkannt. Es verfügt über eigene Räumlichkeiten im Gebäude der Hochschule in Vallendar, wo sich auch die Institutsbibliothek befindet.

The Pallotti Institute for Studies on Spirituality, Past and
Present, has been founded in April 2010 as an institution of the German-Austrian Sacred Heart of Jesus Province. It is serving the German-speaking countries of the province, Germany and Austria, and also all the other parts of the province, which are English-speaking. It is also cooperating with the Swizz Province.

The Pallotti Institute is an instrument of the SAC and meant to serve the whole Union in the respected countries.
In 2010 the Pallotti Institute had been entrusted to Fr. Ulrich Scherer SAC, who was the director until his death in 2022.

The following director is Dr. theol. Brigitte Proksch UAC, who has done a research on Pallotti´s spirituality and anthropology.
In August 2023, the Pallotti Institute has been established as official institute of the Vincent Pallotti University.
The Pallotti Institute has got a room in the building of the Vincent Pallotti University in Vallendar. The library of the institute is located there.
